The 25th Academy Awards ceremony was held on March 19, 1953. It took place at the RKO Pantages Theater in Hollywood and at the NBC International Theater in New York. It was the first Academy Awards ceremony to be televised, and the first ceremony to be held in Hollywood and New York City simultaneously. The New York ceremonies were held in NBC\u2019s International Theater, which was then home to “Your Show Of Shows.” <\/p>\n

In the short clip below, we see Shirley Booth accepting the best actress award for \u201cCome Back Little Sheba\u201d at the International with cuts back and forth from Hollywood. There’s a quick glimpse of one of the cameras as she exits the stage. Her ascent to the stage is without a doubt the first televised \u201cgown trip.\u201d She is a true pioneer! <\/p>\n
