September 8, 1951…First Episode Of “I Love Lucy” Was Filmed
When ‘I Love Lucy’ debuted October 15, 1951, the first episode to air was “The Girls Want To Go To A Nightclub”, but the first episode to be filmed was “Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her” which was filmed on September 8, 1951. It aired as the fourth episode on November 5th.

Show #1 was filmed with 4 cameras instead of 3 like the rest. The editor was having trouble matching shots for editing.
35mm film instead of 16mm
16mm was only used for Kinescope Recordings. 16mm also required A and B roll editing to hide splices so 35mm was preferred to avoid generational loss.
35mm was the professional standard in film. 16mm was for amateur and home use originally.
