June 16, 1959…Remember This Headline?
I guess we’ll never know if it was suicide or murder, but I remember the day the news broke…you too?
It was a sad day for all of us kids of the ’50s, but it would have been worse had the news come while the series was still in production. Thankfully, it wrapped in April of ’58. -Bobby Ellerbee
strange visitor goes home
I’ve read plans were in the works to produce another set of episodes. John Hamilton had already passed away and they planned to replace him with Pierre Watkin who played Perry White in the serials. But unfortunately, the series got worse every year. The best episodes were the season one film noir episodes with Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane. She was smart enough to get out in time.
MURDERED
Superman may have had low production values but still, one of the greatest ever.. I still enjoy them to this day. George Reeves was great and everybody in it was ideally cast.
That woman he lived with shot him
I believe they called it the Superman curse. Several Supermen have had tragedies
Why is it always the woman…
I definitely remember it, I was 14 at the time.
Did cops ever suspect MGM’s general manager, Eddie Mannix, with whose wife George had been fooling around for some time? Open secret among some in the industry at the time. Of course, in those days studios could easily get things hushed up.
WOW !
This was ruled a murder, look it up.
