1955: NBC Burbank This is the control console for an RCA TK41. The camera control unit is on the left and the colorplexer on the right with the double rows of red, blue and green knobs. You need one of these consoles for each TK41. So many knobs, so little time. Source

My father, Bob Chin, worked for CBS and was in TV Field Maintenance for close to 50 years. At one event, he was able to go up in the Goodyear blimp for a test flight and “flew” the blimp. I think I still have his souvenir blimp pilot pin. I was very envious.
I don’t remember your father Charles – this was CBS TVC in LA – maybe he was in NY or just in the field. One time we were up it was very windy and we got blown all over the place. The pilot was worried we’d blow into a power line and we had to come down. He let me fly it. Long hours up there between rehearsals and show time.
