Hopefully this will bring some warmth our friends in Boston!


Above is the September 30, 1967 game between Boston and Minnesota at Fenway Park. This was one of the closest pennant races in the American League ever with the Twins one game ahead of Boston and Detroit on the last weekend of the season.

The game was covered by WHDH with RCA TK41s. At the start, you can see Boston’s mayor with VP Hubert Humphrey from Minnesota, Senator Ted Kennedy and what looks like Sen.     Ah, ‘HDH television and radio! What quality programming and on air personnel. They’d shuttle back and forth between both mediums. How sad that these two qualities have declined!

    First color camera I ever ran was a TK-41 with a push rod Zoomar.

    OK. here’s the story – When WHDH parked the mobile unit behind Fenway Park, they gave tours to the Red Sox players. The players began dropping by to see themselves on videotape, and began analyzling their swings on the monitors. After a while, the WHDH production crew was having trouble prepping for the game because the players were hogging the equipment to check their batting stance. Several players actually improved their batting averages by using the remote truck.
