Picture Parade 4…White Shoes And Color News
This is the 1968 Republican National Convention in Miami. Pictured with Mike Wallace is the governor of Florida, Miss Florida and an overloaded cameraman. That hefty bundle is the Norelco PCP 90 with a 35 pound camera and a 25 pound back pack transmitter. Enjoy and share! -Bobby Ellerbee
I remember the PCP 70….. the PCP 90 wasn’t that much better as far as weight.
You can almost hear the vertibrae compressing…
I am sure the cameraman had to worry about framing his shots, and not show the signage of the competition in the background.
I wonder about the radiation of the transmitter on his back…
Yeah—what Russell said: This is a PCP-90. Still will send you to the chiropractor after a few hours!
Looks pretty well balanced compared to some Philips and BTS cameras I’ve used.
That CBS font is so timeless.
The original Go Pro!
No creepy peepy?
If you go into the CBS Broadcast Center in NY on of those is on display in the lobby area.
Was that the porta-Pak nicknamed the “Creepy-Peepe?”
For a moment, I thought that was Pat Boone
Oh yea!!!…..A PCP90..nothing but a PC70 cut in half….sheesh!
Like working inside a microwave oven.
Another great pic, thanks Bobby!
Looks like he is wearing braces on his legs … or maybe that is an arm rest ….
We had a PCP-90 at WRET in Charlotte in 1977. It was used to shoot wrestling in the studio. We also used it to shoot this tour of the station late one night (I’m the ‘host’ of the video):

The manual I had called the early Norlco’s Hand helds “Little Shaver” not kidding. I worked that same convention for ABC and we used the 2 tube Ampex camera “Handi Lookie”.Peaches
Norelco seemed to always style cameras with square lens shrouds.
