December 1, 2004…Tom Brokaw Steps Down At NBC

On this day in 2004, NBC anchor Tom Brokaw made he final appearance as anchor on ‘NBC Nightly News’. He began his run on the show in April 1982.

Although he has already coined the phrase “the greatest generation”, he does not use the term when he talk about them with great respect.   1. If you look at it NBC probably had the most orderly transition out of all the networks during that great 2004-06 transition period where in less than 18 months, we lost one anchor (Peter Jennings) and another was forced out of his chair (Dan Rather).
