A Leisurely Stroll Down Memory Lane…WBOC, Circa 1964

This video will start at the beginning of the television studios tour, but for engineering and radio fans, the tour starts at the transmitters and radio studios just before this.

WBOC is in Salisbury, Maryland and this twenty minute video has a very generous helping of RCA TK60 action from here on out. The visit to the control room is just after this segment and will bring back a lot of memories too! I hope you’ll share some of yours.

    I posted that video! WBOC is a former employer of mine… and this video runs on a continuous loop in the main lobby.

    Interesting fact… the FM studio/fallout shelter was converted into an IT office and server room in the late 1980s. I occupied that office for 2 years.

    Also… the RCA console you see the FM announcer using… is now living in my basement. The station wanted to scrap it… so I put it on display in my office until leaving the station last year.

    Bobby I love this film, what a time capsule. The pacing in this film is amazingly slow even for mid-60s. The crude production pacing actually makes it better for us today to be able to get loooong views of all the early 60s gear. Keep em coming Bobby!

    When I saw the first line of this post I briefly thought it might be a tour of NBC’s BOC! Which would be cool to see, especially from back in the day (like the late ’70s, when I used to hang out there on the 5th floor at 30 Rock as an annoying broadcasting nerd). But this is fantastic as well….as is most everything you post. Keep up the GREAT work, Bobby!
