Two Points Of Interest…
Before it was renamed ‘Kukla, Fran And Ollie’ in October of 1948 when it moved to WNBQ and NBC, the show was called ‘Junior Jamboree’ and debuted on Chicago’s WBKB in November of ’47. Although WBKB was able to buy the new RCA TK30 IO cameras, it could not afford new pedestals and put the cameras on their two home made dollies that used a barber’s chair for the base. The dollies were built during WWII and had formerly supported Dumont Iconoscope cameras.
Long Forgotten Production Tricks… Back in the early days of television, most local stations didn’t have the money for expensive “extras” like pedestals and dollies. Philo Farnsworth, Box Camera, Model 1 This is the great granddaddy of all electronic television cameras! This is thought to be the first one Philo built and the date would be around 1926. I think the Smithsonian has this but I’m not sure. Anyone know? Source

I believe the woman on the left is the Beulah after whom Burr named Beulah Witch. The real Beulah died a few years later in a plane crash.
