Finally!

I’ve wondered for years what this pedestal is and now I know…it’s a Canon MC 300 and it was made in Japan. I never knew Canon made television equipment other than lenses. I think it is like the Vinten Fulmar in that it has 2 telescoping columns under the brake ring. A lot of these were in use in Japan, Asia and Australia.

  1. Similar to the way RCA and GE branded the Houston-Fearless peds they sold with their cameras. I do remember that particular Shotoku cam head was a dreadful hunk of machinery.

  2. I worked for Canonfrom 1975 to about 1980 and did some repairing on broadcast lenses, but mainly still camera lenses. Many of the lenses that were used at Lake Placid went though the shop there and were checked out before Olympic TV duty. It was my job at Canon that helped me land a position in Television in Chicago.
