1948 – Milton Berle debuted as the permanent host of “The Texaco Star Theater” on NBC.

1957 – The first episode of “Perry Mason” aired on CBS.

1968 – The television show “Adam-12” debuted on NBC.

1970 – “NFL Monday Night Football” made its debut on ABC-TV. The game was between the Cleveland Browns and the New York Jets. The Browns won 31-21.

1972 – ABC-TV debuted “In Concert.” Alice Cooper appeared in the first episode.

1993 – The first episode of “NYPD Blue” aired on ABC.

1998 – The first episode of “Will & Grace” aired on NBC.

1999 – HBO’s live music show, “Reverb,” debuted with performances by Alanis Morissette and Ever

    On September 21, 1959, “Today” began an eighteen-month run on tape. Episodes would be taped from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. the previous afternoon, then transmitted the following day during “Today”s normal 7-9 a.m. timeslot. Frank Blair would come in and do live newscasts, but the rest was on tape. That lasted until John Chancellor succeeded Dave Garroway in 1961.

    The only episode produced in color when CBS had to decide whether to renew the series for the 1966-1967 season. The episode was entitled The Case of the Twice-Told Twist. CBS cancelled the series after a successful 9-year run. One year later, Raymond Burr starred in an equally prosperous 8 years as Ironside on NBC. https://youtu.be/oYmuLEYyW2k
