Speaking Of Bob Barker…
In the video post just before this, we saw Bob on TPIR set, but this is him in 1970 on the ‘Truth Or Consequences’ set at Metromedia Studios with a Norelco PC70. I would love to have one of these old “captains wheel” Zoom demand controls (that Bob has his hand on) for one of my Norelcos. This style demand was original equipment. Anyone happen to have one? Hey Bobby–That was the same camera I ran when I first got into television in the mid 70’s. OMG those were the days and when TV was so much fun. Everything was live then. That Norelco was such a good color camera in those days.
The PC 70 was the first camera I ever operated and set up… WFRV TV, Green Bay, WI …1969…

I have to tell you this story, back 16 or 17 years ago I was captivated by Ren and Stimpy… They pushed it over the top. Anyway I was watching the episode (one of the first) and Stimpy was doing a kitty litter bit with the Horse…the music bed drove me nuts for a whole year! I had heard it before… At 2 AM one morning it hit me…it was the closing music bed from the Syndicated TOC! (Worked Master Control at TV 12 in Binghamton and we aired TOC!) saw them all…that was 1973-74!

I’m fascinated by your use of the word “demand” to indicate a control device. I’ve never heard it used anywhere else and it’s not a dictionary definition but it obviously is a term commonly used in the business (or you wouldn’t use it.) Any idea where it came from?

I love those pose shots where the cameraman says “put your hand on a knob and look like you know what you are doing”
