Don’t Look Now, But…

This was a January 1956 storm that hit the California coast with huge waves. The surfers may have loved it, but KTLA lost a camera covering the event…don’t know if it was this one or another, but this cameraman is about to get a big surprise.     Violent winds, high waves and the highest tide of the season combined to give the Southern California coastline from Santa Barbara to San Diego its worst battering of the year on January 16, 1953. A towering wave is seen blasting a Redondo Beach building, in front of a KTLA television camera. Another KTLA camera, valued at $13,000, was damaged.
